What would you use to make an edible “three little pigs” scene?
I'm having my students create an edible scene, our theme is "three little pigs". We are elementary and special education level. So far we have brainstormed potato sticks for the stacks and house of straw/hay, cinnamon sticks for house of sticks and fruit rollups for the house of brick. We plan on entering it into an annual Gingerbread contest in our community. Just wondering if anything creative jumps out at anyone else?
we used toasted coconut and glued it to a large gingerbread cookie using a dab of frosting for straw house its easy to use and handle
for the stick house we also used cinnamon sticks and again frosting glue when it dries the frosting becomes hard and helps them stick together
for the bricks we used miniature marshmallows rolled in red dye and held together by tooth picks again we glued them with frosting to large ginger bread cookies
the large marshmallows for the pigs sounds like a wonderful idea
hope the students enjoy this project as long as they participate I ‘m sure that they will it is really easy and fun to make good luck
If possible instead of several cookies use one large gingerbread cake then several students can apply several straw houses stick houses and brick houses so everyone can say that they made their own individual house remember participation is almost everything especially when they can show off their products to the community
Marshmallows for the piggies would be cute!
and for the wolf, maybe some chocolate truffles stuck together with toothpicks or something. good luck!
Shredded wheat cereal for the straw house and pretzel logs for the log house. Bricks? I don’t know…
