my co-worker is throwing a birthday for her 2 year old daughter with her husband in July, and it's a Dora theme. With them being Hispanic, they're going to have a DJ, music, the whole nine yards, and I've been helping them out, and her and I though it would be a good idea for Dora to show up, but I'm having trouble finding a Dora Mascot costume here in Columbus, Ohio. I have found a couple of places, but nothing concrete, and that looks good

We're going to an anime convention and I want to cosplay, but I don't want to show my face. So, I think choosing a mascot costume or something else that will hide me will be fun and funny, esspecially since I won't be as self contious to do silly things. lol What are some awesome cosplay ideas from either an anime, video game, etc. that I could dress up as? I want to dress up as Mickey Mouse for my daughters 2nd birthday. I have been looking online at Mascot Costumes and they are somewhat pricey for a 1 time occasion. There are no rental stores in the area I live. What I was thinking that I could do is just purchase the foam head of the mascot costume and then get a costume tuxedo (around .00) and some big gloves to complete the look. Trouble is I cant seem to find a place that just sells the mascot heads of the costumes. Does anyone know of a place that does this that wont charge me an arm and a leg?

I basically want to make a project out of making what is essentially a giant turtle costume, and I was wondering if there were any guides on making a large mascot costume of any type, and what materials are used in mascot costumes. For example, should I use flexible pipe to hold it up, or wires, or would both of these appear poor? I want a viewer to think that the costume is "lighter than air" in a sense, no sagging, just all of it held up. Any suggestions? (Other than "give up" =P)

I could probably build something out of different-colored plastics, maybe sunglass lenses...but there's got to be a commercial product that comes pre-assembled so you just have to sew it in place.
