How to find retired mascot costumes?
I've had some luck finding mascot costumes used in restaurants, such as my Chuck E. Cheese walkaround, but I'm at a loss for this one. Mcdonalds stopped using the Hamburglar in the 90's when he was retired. I know few people have actually gotten their hands on one of the mascot costumes of him used in the store.
Anyone know how I would go about getting one of these?
I think I would start with McDonald’s corporate offices, Public Relations and Advertising. Someone there should know what procedures were followed when the costumes were disposed of, and you should be able to follow the trail from there. It is possible that some of them ended up in Costume Rental shops near the Corporate offices, and may still be floating around there. Another suggestion would be to try ebay if you have not already.
