Halloween is a major event that spells not only fun and thrill for every child’s chance to participate, but also the dilemma every parent faces in coming up with a good costume. Most of the costumes can easily be bought from Halloween specialty stores. However it is quite perplexing to see how the prices for these outfits seem to go up uncontrollably. And with some of the children’s ages not so appropriate to be fitted with gross, overly scary attires, a pig costume is something every parent will feel acceptable to be worn by their little darlings. Here’s an easy way to create this cute outfit and add spice to the Halloween fun.

The first step is to gather the tools you will need to create this cute Halloween outfit. Secure a good needle which is not too thin that easily breaks or too thick that can be difficult to maneuver in sewing thick fabrics. The thread to be used should match the color of the pig costume that you intend to create. Pink is the general hue of the pig animal and you can easily accomplish the pink piggy look with a pair of pink jammies. Choose one which is a ‘footsie style’ so the entire clothing can cover down to the child’s feet.
The next important step is to create the other parts of the pig body that will make it look like one adorable pig. The easiest part and therefore the first thing to create would be the nose for the pig costume. Using a cardstock, form an oval about as big as a medium sized egg. Cover the nostril end of the oval with a pink felt paper, and let the other end hang open to accommodate the child’s nose. Use brush to paint two nostrils on the top of the pink felt paper. Punch holes on the sides and tie them with 8 inches each of pink laces. Cut out a half moon opening under the part where the child’s real nostrils are situated, to provide open space for free breathing. Fit the pig nose unto the child’s nose and secure by tying the laces at the back of the head.
The tail can be sewn from two strips of pink felt papers. The curly tail of the pig costume can be created by sliding a pipe cleaner inside the felt paper and bending it into a spiral to form the curling effect. Sewing the tail unto the buttock part of the jimmies is the best way to ensure it will not fall off.
For the ears, mold pipe cleaners by creating triangular shaped ears and cover them with pink felt papers. Fold the top part of the ears downward to resemble pig ears. Sew or glue on a pink beanie hat.
The sight of your endearing little kid running around as a Pink Piggy is something worth having during the Halloween festivities. You will realize that making a pig costume on your own is a very smart move. And with the ease of creating one by yourself, you will be glad to have saved a lot of money in the end.
